For the second year in a row Love of Life, Inc. contributes $1500 to Dayton’s Ray & Joan Kroc Corp Community Center!
The generous contribution is made possible by funds raised at their annual Wham Bam Thank U Jam – Music and Arts Celebration. The Wham Bam Thank U Jam celebrated its 5th year in 2014, with nearly 2000 music and art lovers converging on Hannon’s Camp America in College Corner, Ohio this past August for their most successful production yet! Their success can be attributed to the hard work and dedication provided by the many volunteers that help make the Wham Bam Thank U Jam one of Southwest Ohio’s most talked about annual events.
The all-volunteer staff at Love of Life, Inc. dedicates itself to “promoting diversity through music, art and life experiences.” Their mission is to “provide a festival-like atmosphere where musicians, performers, artists, and music lovers can come together annually to celebrate life.”
Their continued growth has allowed the organization to reach many goals, which includes becoming incorporated. Late in 2014, Love of Life achieved that goal and is now officially “Love of Life, Incorporated.” The success of the Wham Bam Thank U Jam has also allowed Love of Life, Inc. to solidify its position in the local community as well the Ohio music scene.
The organization continues to live its motto to “Live, Love, Learn, Pass It On” by giving back to the local charities that make a difference in our community such as the Salvation Army’s Ray & Joan Kroc Corp Community Center in Dayton, who were once again chosen as a recipient of a $1500 donation. The Ray & Joan Kroc Corp Community Center offers the Dayton community a variety of programs such as the Tech Cafe & Education Center, Life Skills, Christmas Food Assistance, and Music & Performing Arts.
The check presentation took place in the beautiful sanctuary of the Kroc Center. Love of Life, Inc. Representatives Tim Wells, Tracy Lakes, and Johnny Klink presented the $1500 gift to Associate Kroc Center Director Major Barbara Duperree.
A tour of the facilities included a stop in the band room that revealed some of the unique challenges of providing these ongoing programs to the community. The Music & Arts Program at the Kroc Center provides children that may never be able to afford an instrument of their own the opportunity to learn, play, and perform. The program offers a variety of instruments for children to choose from including wind & string instruments, piano, percussion, and more.
