In the last couple of years, I’ve had the chance to meet some truly amazing people thanks to the work we’re doing here at Music Connection Dayton, and there is one group in particular that I always enjoy having the chance to hang out with, The Mainline Funk!

The Mainline Funk-Wham Bam Road Trip at Brixx-216

I’ve had the chance to watch these fellas perform several times this year, including at Brixx Ice Company and Sideshow X in Dayton as well as at Wham Bam Thank U Jam, which just went down last weekend!    I’ve even had the opportunity to perform at a couple of the same events with these guys, and each time, they have warmed my heart and filled my soul with music and laughter!

This highly improvisational band started to come together early in 2014 when James “Bub” Cavender (lead vocals, guitar) and Mike “Mikey G” Gregg (drums) started jamming together.  They were soon joined by Bub’s longtime friend and former bandmate, Jeff “Jeff Ro” Rogers, on some wicked lead guitar and Jeremiah “Dr. J-Bass” Kermes on bass!   The guys also like to bring in a variety of other talented local musicians to help keep the music as fresh as possible!

From blues to funk and reggae to jam, their original songs get people dancing and shaking their tail feathers every time, and thankfully, they are currently in the process of recording their first studio album which should be out later this fall!  Check out a really cool preview track of their song “Delighia” HERE on Reverbnation!  These are some of the coolest, kindest folks I know, and they are constantly working hard to share their love of music! If you’re looking for a sure-fire act to spice up your weekend, these guys will help you out, ANY time!
