Smooth, sultry, and danceable is the name of the game for Bernie Journey, an electronic dance pop artist originally hailing from the Cleveland area, and his new digitally remastered release of his self-titled debut album is all that and more!
The fully remastered version of the album has been distributed to iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and Google Play with an official drop date of September 22nd, 2015. Produced by Joe Vulpis (Lady Gaga) and Dave ‘The Rave’ Rickard, Journey’s debut album was met with positive reception from both fans and critics. The eight song record is digitally remastered and accompanied by a radio edit and two newly recorded acoustic tracks produced by Peter Litvin. The original release and re-release are under the umbrella of J2 Records.
Bernie’s clean mid-range vocals are peppered with just the tiniest amount of grit around the edges, and each track on this album has a cool mix of produced electronic elements mixed with the occasional physical instrument. Thanks to groovy beats, sweet harmonies, a sexy edge, and soulful vocals, this album has a number of qualities that immediately reminded me of some of George Michael’s albums, especially his 1996 album, Older, which was a treasured part of my music collection for a number of years.
While the focus is currently on the new acoustic single “Only My Love”, available as a gratis track with pre-orders, I preferred the stripped down acoustic version of “Set Me Free” which has a real tenderness and vulnerability not touched on in other tracks. Other highlights from this album include “Wounded Child”, “Ran Away From Me”, and “What Happened To Our Love?”
This is an extremely well produced album with plenty of great dance tracks as well as some slow ballads and two-stripped down acoustic remixes that demonstrate the cross-over ability of Bernie’s music. You can preorder this album HERE and follow Bernie Journey at the links below!
