On Friday, September 23rd, Dayton’s local metal fans came together to catch some of the hottest metal around town, and they weren’t disappointed as Letters to the Blind, Omeni, and Forces of Nature destroyed ears and melted faces at The Courtyard Lounge in Englewood!
This was the 6th show in The Dayton Underground Series, which started in March of this year, and local fans filled the Yard with hearts and hands ready to rumble! The Dayton Metal Family LOVES to support local charities and families, and this night was no exception with more than 30 bags of clothing brought in and donated to Helping the Homeless – Dayton.
With full, 1 hour sets delivered by each of the bands at one of the Dayton area’s coolest venues, this was a night to remember!
Letters to the Blind kicked off the show with a badass round up of songs off their latest album, ‘Bow To The Machine’, that had everyone in front of the stage immediately! Their progressive and dynamic sound was the perfect way to start off the evening!
Omeni was next up on the stage and brought some serious heat to the night with a blistering, brutal collection of original metal that had necks breaking all over the place! The killer, minutes-long solo break by guitarist, Chris Elliot, was a surprise treat that had everyone stunned!
Forces of Nature finished out the night in typical fashion – Heavy.As.Fuck! These guys, and gal, have basically been leading and pushing the Dayton area metal scene over the last few years, and we don’t know of too many folks more suited to do it! Punishing vocals, dynamic movements, and screaming hot leads are just a few notes of what makes Forces so hot! What they do best though possibly is include their fans in the show experience, and they finished out the night by having all the fans gather on stage while they moved to the audience position and played to all the folks on stage! Super cool!
This show was a blast, and big thanks have to go out to all the bands for kickin’ serious ass, to Mohawk Freestyle Grill Food Truck for serving up delicious goodies, to Lora Polamalu for letting us throw this shindig at her sweet venue, and lastly, to our Dayton Underground Series sponsor, Sound City Music in Troy, Ohio!
