RESTOCK Recap: Dayton’s Music Community Rocks for Charity

 The 2nd Annual RESTOCK Charity event benefiting the Dayton Foodbank and Helping the Homeless Dayton was an evening of great music and amazing generosity! Oddbody’s Music Room was buzzing with Dayton area music fans armed with boxes and bags of donations in support of two of the Miami Valley’s best charitable endeavors!

The Dayton Foodbank is the heartbeat of an expansive network of over 100 food pantries scattered throughout Greene, Montgomery, and Preble Counties! Through community and corporate donations the Dayton Foodbank continues its work to help relieve hunger in the Miami Valley.

Helping the Homeless Dayton creator Trena Elam is a champion for our area homeless! Instead of ignoring the ever growing problem of homelessness in the Miami Valley, Elam has taken it upon herself to stand up and fight for those less fortunate. Elam distributes donations to area shelters and at times combs the streets looking for those who may be in need of clothing, blankets, coats, and ready to eat food.

The Sharon Lane Album Project Fundraiser

On Saturday, April 4 family, friends and fans gathered at Gilly’s Jazz Club to show their love and appreciation to Sharon Lane. Lane’s musical DNA is woven throughout Dayton’s music scene, so when word got out that she was looking to record again, people were more than willing to show their support for one of Dayton’s musical icons!

Sharon has been itching to get back into the studio for some time. Her last album called “Gigs Up” released in 2000 was an instant classic with tunes like “Back Alley Serenade,” “Bus Station,” and “Rattlesnake”. Sharon and I have talked several times over the years about her return to the studio, but she was never able to make the leap. I mentioned Sharon’s desire for a new album to Paula Ashcraft, owner of All Nighter Recording Studio, who immediately offered to help out with the project. We discussed several options on how to get the project off the ground, one being a fundraiser to help with the cost of the CD.

NEW Retail Store Aims for Largest Local Music Offerings Around! | Springfield, OH

New retail shop, Guitars to Gunstocks, in Springfield, Ohio recently opened its doors to feature store owner, Jacob Collins’, beautiful wood carvings, guitars, guitar repair services, and what he hopes will be one of the largest selection of local music and related merchandise in the area!

Later this month, Guitars to Gunstocks will host its Grand Opening Celebration along with the 1 Year Anniversary of its neighbor, Artistic Delirium Tattoos and Piercings! There will be great celebration day only specials, raffles for cool prizes, and live acoustic performances in the afternoon from area artists!
