Let’s face it! The person behind the sound board can make or break your album, not to mention your bank, so getting to know the engineer and/or producer you’re going to work with, in advance, is crucial to coming away with a great recording!
Before my band went to Popside Recording earlier this year, I had already checked out Micah Carliâs recordings, talked to friends, and learned that heâd been around the world and had earned a lot of experience touring with the band Hawthorne Heights.
As I began to learn more about his experiences in music though, it became clear to me that it wasnât just his experience with the band that makes him one of the hottest engineers to record with right now. Â
Itâs the whole package. (more…)

Popside Recording is tucked away up in Troy, Ohio, but itâs a hidden gem that could be your perfect sound solution!
I met Micah Carli of Popside Recording earlier this year when my band, Far From Eden, spent some time at the studio and had a fantastic experience.  Our time there was such a valuable experience that I wanted to go more in-depth with him and find out all about Popside Recording so I could share it with anyone who will listen! Recently, I had the chance to sit down with Micah for the first in a four part, in-depth series on this cool, local studio that should be your next recording stop!
RAGING NATHANS- “Losing It” LP – Dead Broke Distro

The Raging Nathans are from Dayton, Ohio, and they sure are raging. Hyped-up, melodic punk rock bursting with sick pop-punk flavor at its very core. (early) Green Day, Screeching Weasel & even contemporaries like Off With Their Heads, all come to mind. But all the good parts. Whether it be a gut-wrenching melodic jam or a ripping four-chord pop-punk blazer, the Nathans indeed bring their own brand of flavor to the mix. All the while keeping it very fresh and tight. Tight as hell.
This November, The Raging Nathans deliver their latest LP, “Losing It”, via Dead Broke, Rad Girlfriend, and Recess Records. For this effort, recorded with Micah Carli at Popside Recordings, the band got personal. They aren’t hiding behind a lot a lot of metaphors or fancy writing. There are songs about specific people. There are songs about death, drug and alcohol abuse, and relationships. Losing It is how these dudes really feel.

Dayton, Ohioâs Arms Race has been around since 2013, and are slowly in the midst of building a regional fan base. To date, theyâve played shows with Smug Brothers, The Story Changes, The Awful Nothings, Winter Makes Sailors (We Want Action label), City Mouse (Itâs Alive Records), Ultrasphinx (ex-Party of Helicopters), and more.
They recorded their demo/EP, Brought A Hug To A Gunfight, last year with Hawthorne Heights guitarist Micah Carli at his Popside Studios in Troy, Ohio and have shared it via Soundcloud. Theyâre currently making plans for its physical release.
