img_24481Let’s face it! The person behind the sound board can make or break your album, not to mention your bank, so getting to know the engineer and/or producer you’re going to work with, in advance, is crucial  to coming away with a great recording!
Before my band went to Popside Recording earlier this year, I had already checked out Micah Carli’s recordings, talked to friends, and learned that he’d been around the world and had earned a lot of experience touring with the band Hawthorne Heights.
As I began to learn more about his experiences in music though, it became clear to me that it wasn’t just  his experience with the band that makes him one of the hottest  engineers to record with right now.

Good Luck Year is a 6 piece indie-pop band from Dayton, OH with male and female vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, piano, synth, drums/percussion, and bass.
We like to focus on melodies and harmonies, and write mid-tempo songs influenced by indie, pop, rock, folk and various other things. Many of us have been doing “the band thing” for a long time on a local, regional, and national level – but this band, Good Luck Year, is relatively new and has just released our first self-recorded and produced EP, The Good Luck Year EP (1/24/2015).

dreamland_cvr1400x1400_300dpiBlending elements of folk, blues, new age, and many other genres into his own unique concoction of musical bliss, David Arn’s sophomore album, “Walking to Dreamland”, is a really cool and interesting selection of jams. Originally from the Masillon and Akron, Ohio area and now hailing from Virginia by way of New York and New England, David will be officially releasing the album to audiences everywhere on February 1, 2015, but this week, I was privileged to get a sneak preview of this top-notch album!  (more…)

The Keys of Life and Death, the debut album of Dayton metal band Horlet, is crunchy and tight from beginning to end. This cd has been in my player for a month now and shows no signs of getting stale! The heavy riffs SLAM, weaving lots of tandem melody lines and intricate percussion with great composition and production quality.
