Valentineās Day Massacre at The Courtyard – Covering the Scene

…excerpt
Troyās Blanche Devereaux plays and performs metal like they are extracting demons from your inner most self. Basically yanking them out, wadding them up, and before you can breathe relieved, ram them back in. Itās better to have your personal demons contorted, disoriented and confused by the external environment before reinsertion. Mikey Devereauxās bellowed growl complimented the maniacal sounds from Danny Miramontes and Jeremy Stone. Itās got thrash, metalcore and a bit of black metal putting The Black Dahlia Murder on Cannibal Corpsesās alter of sacrifice. They took the stage burning away the cold of the night on āNoctural Consumption.ā They encouraged all to step in the fire and āMan Up.ā It only burns a little. They have been around for a while and seem to keep getting heavier.

Def Leppard said āLove Bites,ā The Vinnie Vincent Invasion warned āLove Kills,ā and on this 13th day, the water logged guy with the machete regularly slaughtered those making love. So it was fitting on Friday, February 13th, everyoneās favorite pre-bloody Valentineās Day, the Therapy Cafe held the Blackhearts Ball. Hearts, candy and flowerās done darkwave, experimental, shoegaze and industrial style, with lots of balloons to kick around. The masquerade masks, stilettos, makeup, leather and lace were on display and it didnāt really matter who wore what.
The inaugural Blackheartās Ball was the creation of Curse of Cassandra and something they hope to repeat every year when love fills the night and the guy with the miners outfit and pick axe comes back. Why not celebrate Halloween twice a year?

Engine of Chaos’s NIB and Aces HighĀ Play Dublinās St Patrickās Bash
By Mike Ritchie
(Excerpt) Ā “Saturday March 16, with the Irish spirits flowing and the green stuff coming from the tap bottle, ATM’s and everywhere else desirable and not The Dublin Pub showcased the beginning of an all weekend long celebration to good ole St. Patrick and the snakes he drove out of Ireland way back when. Ā In the words of Aces High singer Tony Oliver, a group of Americans came to hear British music in an Irish pub.”

of theĀ Dead By WednesdayĀ show on 3/30/13 atĀ KuZZinZ Bar & Grill, written by Nathan Goff! It was a great show overall, and Nathan is supportive of the bands’ efforts while at the same time being constructive about certain elements of the show! An informative and interesting read! I highly encourage anyone who would like to review local shows to write something up and share it with us! Know someone who likes to write about local shows? Tell them about us or share this on their wall!
(Excerpt) “Opening act, Enkiridian, put on a great, aggressive set and got the show off to a good start. This was my first listen to this energetic act, and they performed well despite being the sound-guinea pigs for the evening.Ā Their onstage vibe was enthusiastic (though, the bassistās stripping down to boxers midset was a cause for blindness!) , and a highlight of their hardcore material was singer Jeff Horner, formerly of NDEX and longtime fixture of the Piqua/Northern scene. I was further impressed AFTER their set, as the band stayed all night to support the other acts, something that is often overlooked by new or inexperienced bands! Isnāt it lame when a band goes first and then ditches? No weaksauce here!”
