Whisking you far away from his current residence in Allentown, Pennsylvania to the lush, green hills of Ireland, Corey Purcell’s new solo album, ‘Flying Solo’, is a relaxing and whimsical breath of fresh air. Purcell is a multi-talented musician. Not only does he sing on many of the tracks, he also plays accordion, cittern, bodhran, and guitar, and lest I forget to mention later, he’s also a well-known Irish dancer!
Purcell’s love for what he does is evident as you listen to the album. There’s a tremendous sense of tenderness and reverence for the history, culture, landscape, and the music of Ireland. Purcell is not just a multi-instrumentalist though; he’s a talented one! You have to check out “The Moving Cloud Set”, where Purcell demonstrates some pretty amazing
skills on accordion. That’s right! We said “accordion”! This is not an instrument for the faint of heart to attempt to play. It takes some serious skills just to make it sound good, but in Purcell’s hands, it feels and sounds natural.
If you’re looking for music that will set your mind adrift to foreign lands far away from the hustle and bustle of today’s modern madness, then ‘Flying Solo’ should definitely be making your playlist! Find Corey Purcell’s ‘Flying Solo’ at any of the links below!
