The 2nd Annual RESTOCK Charity event benefiting the Dayton Foodbank and Helping the Homeless Dayton was an evening of great music and amazing generosity! Oddbody’s Music Room was buzzing with Dayton area music fans armed with boxes and bags of donations in support of two of the Miami Valley’s best charitable endeavors!
The Dayton Foodbank is the heartbeat of an expansive network of over 100 food pantries scattered throughout Greene, Montgomery, and Preble Counties! Through community and corporate donations the Dayton Foodbank continues its work to help relieve hunger in the Miami Valley.
Helping the Homeless Dayton creator Trena Elam is a champion for our area homeless! Instead of ignoring the ever growing problem of homelessness in the Miami Valley, Elam has taken it upon herself to stand up and fight for those less fortunate. Elam distributes donations to area shelters and at times combs the streets looking for those who may be in need of clothing, blankets, coats, and ready to eat food. (more…)

Ohhh…the sweet nectar of the gods-beer.
The definition of beer-an alcoholic beverage usually made from malted cereal grain (as barley), flavored with hops, and brewed by slow fermentation.
Whatever-BEER IS GOOD!
That’s what the metal band Psychostick thinks. So much so that they wrote a song about their love and admiration for it. The song, titled simply “BEER!” (also affectionately called “The Beer Song”) has become an anthem of sorts for all those beer drinkers in the world. Don’t believe so? The video has been viewed by more than 5.8 million people on YouTube, making it a viral hit. The song has also, and still is, played on satellite and FM radio stations throughout the United States. Tonight-Psychostick will stopping in Dayton in support of their new album, IV: Revenge of The Vengeance at Oddbody’s (more…)

Fostercore and Nate
I got a call from my friend, Fostercore, asking what I was doing on a Thursday night. Thursday? If I’m not checking out songwriters at an open mic, I’m probably either playing guitar ideas into the 8-track or sitting on my ass playing video games. There’s usually nothing great on Thursdays aside from the 14 open-mics around town. “I scored some tickets, but have no license. You have a license, but no tickets. Wanna have an adventure?” Well, hell yea; who doesn’t? I did a quick check of music events on Music Connection Dayton to see what else was happening and made a mental note of some highlights. I threw on my nearly-clean Slayer T-shirt, grabbed my leather, and I was out the door.

This month’s featured band, Menace 2 Sobriety, is one you should NOT miss! If you’re not ready for the Menace though, you might have your mind blown, so let me try and prepare you for the trouncing your ears are about to receive!

At it’s core, Menace 2 Sobriety is a rap/hardcore act comprised of seven members (Doc (Vocals); Intuitive (Vocals); CMFT (Drums); Martin Landis (Bass/Vocals); Big Rich (Rhythm Guitar); Binsin (Lead Guitar); B Money (Turntables)) and focusing on a lifestyle of “Blunts, Bitches, & Booze”. Don’t let that rap/hardcore label fool you though and start thinking you’re gonna get some kind of mainstream rap because these guys have all kinds of influences popping in and out of their jams – punk, metal, stoner rock… all of that’s in there too!
